What We Do at LPGDD1

Gravity Drainage District No.1 is responsible for the maintenance of canals, laterals, and ditches which have legal servitude within our boundaries.

We are governed by five board members who attend meetings twice each month to discuss day-to-day operations, personnel matters, and expenditures.

Our employees include a Staff Manager, along with a crew of 18 who handle the day-to-day operations.

Our operation includes, but not limited to, the removal of brush and obstructions from canals by hand or mechanical means. We also control growth by spraying chemicals in channels, as approved by the State of Louisiana.
